How to Offer Subscription Trials

Trials are a way for you to give subscribers a chance to evaluate your content before having to pay. When a reader subscribers to a list that offers a trial, they will be subscribed like usual, but there card will not be charged until the end of the trial period. The trial period can range from 1 to 30 days. If the reader unsubscribes before the trial period is over, they will not be charged.

Trials are offered per-plan, so you can have trials on all plans, a single plan, or no plans at all.

Offering a Trial

First, create a new plan for your list.

Next, fill out the various plan fields.

Finally, in the Trial Period Days field, enter the number of days (between 1-30) you would like to offer as a trial period. If you don't want to offer a trial, leave this field blank.

Now, whenever someone signs up for a plan with a trial, they'll receive any content you send through Mailchimp for the duration of the trial period before we charge them.

Trials are only available the first time an email address signs up for a list.
